Mikil aukning hefur or\u00f0i\u00f0 \u00e1 sl\u00edkum ums\u00f3knum \u00e1 \u00cdslandi undanfari\u00f0 og er nokkur fj\u00f6ldi barnafj\u00f6lskyldna \u00fear \u00e1 me\u00f0al. \u00c1ri\u00f0 2015 voru 79 b\u00f6rn \u00e1 me\u00f0al ums\u00e6kjenda um al\u00fej\u00f3\u00f0lega vernd, 249 b\u00f6rn \u00e1ri seinna (\u00datlendingastofnun, 2017) og 156 b\u00f6rn \u00e1ri\u00f0 2017 (\u00datlendingastofnun, 2018). \u00c1ri\u00f0 2018 voru 166 b\u00f6rn me\u00f0al ums\u00e6kjenda (\u00datlendingastofnun, 2019) en \u00feessar t\u00f6lur eiga vi\u00f0 um b\u00f6rn sem leita\u00f0 hafa al\u00fej\u00f3\u00f0legrar verndar \u00ed fylgd me\u00f0 foreldrum s\u00ednum e\u00f0a forr\u00e1\u00f0am\u00f6nnum.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u00deann 1. jan\u00faar 2017 t\u00f3ku gildi n\u00fd l\u00f6g \u00e1 \u00cdslandi um \u00fatlendinga, nr. 80\/2016, \u00fear sem l\u00f6g\u00f0 er aukin \u00e1hersla \u00e1 sj\u00e1lfst\u00e6\u00f0 r\u00e9ttindi barna mi\u00f0a\u00f0 vi\u00f0 fyrri l\u00f6g um \u00fatlendinga nr. 96\/2002. Helsta r\u00e9ttarfarsb\u00f3tin er \u00ed 25. grein laganna en \u00fear kemur fram a\u00f0 \u201ebarni sem getur mynda\u00f0 eigin sko\u00f0anir skal trygg\u00f0ur r\u00e9ttur til a\u00f0 tj\u00e1 sig \u00ed m\u00e1li sem \u00fea\u00f0 var\u00f0ar og skal teki\u00f0 tillit til sko\u00f0ana \u00feess \u00ed samr\u00e6mi vi\u00f0 aldur og \u00feroska\u201c (L\u00f6g um \u00fatlendinga nr. 80\/2016).
