Contributions

Given its international nature, Nordicum-Mediterraneum accepts submissions primarily in English, which is the lingua franca of today's scholarship. Secondarily, the journal accepts submissions in other national and regional languages of the Nordic and Mediterranean communities.

Empirical and theoretical research will be considered as well as discussion papers, interviews, institutional reports, conference proceedings, book reviews, memoirs and archival records. It is amongst the journal's aims to be not only a dynamic instrument to follow current research and debates, but also and above all a reliable archive for future inquiries. Reissuing of previously published material is valued and will be considered.

The journal is published once a year, although special editions devoted to particular topics and/or events may appear as well. The journal is indexed on Gegnir.is for Iceland. Appropriate international indexing is to be implemented after the third issue. The material published in the journal is stored as .pdf files, hence it can be printed and filed easily in hardcopy. Specific editorial guidelines follow concerning the most common types of publication in the journal.

a) Articles and Critical Notices

With the exception of contributions invited by the editors, all research and theoretical papers submitted will undergo peer-review, typically blind. Referees' comments may be disclosed to the contributors. Upon acceptance of their submission, contributors must provide a very short autobiographical note and an abstract of their work. Abstracts must be in English and never exceed 100 words.

Given the interdisciplinary and electronic nature of the journal, contributors are allowed to use different editorial styles. It is recommended that the most common style in their disciplinary area is chosen. However, as a general rule, contributors should try to keep the format of their submissions as simple as possible. Therefore, when feasible, they should avoid: indentations, multiple fonts in the same document, complex structure (e.g. titles including chapters containing sections, etc.) and non-standard characters. The font used should be Arial (12 pts. for the main text, 14 pts. for headings) and texts should be single-spaced. Also, endnotes are preferable to footnotes and their use should be limited.

b) Book Reviews

The maximum length for book reviews is 1000 words. Endnotes and footnotes should be avoided. Abstracts are not required.

All manuscripts should be sent by e-mail to giorgio@unak.is or by snail-mail on an IBM-compatible floppy disk, in a format legible by MSWord 2003 or OpenOffice, to:
